Tiruvannamalai

Tiruvannamalai is one of the most venerated places in Tamil Nadu. In ancient times, the term "Annamalai" meant an inaccessible mountain. The word "Thiru" was prefixed to signify its greatness, and coupled with the two terms, it is called Tiruvannamalai. Tiruvannamalai District is known for eternal peace and divine with the proud possession of the sacred shrine of Lord Arunachaleswara and Ashrams. It had started functioning as a separate district from 30th September 1989 , on bifurcation of the erstwhile North Arcot District. Tiruvannamalai is an ancient city named after the holy mountain "Tiruvannan Malai". Geologist consider this mountain is older than The Himalayas.

  Girivalam
Girivalam (also called Giri Valam)spiritual festival observed on every full moon day at Tiruvannamalai for sacred Mountain Annamalai.In tamil language, "Giri" means mountain and "Valam" means circumambulation. People with spiritual seeking choose to walk around the mountain and worship Aruanachala temple of Tiruvannamalai on pournami day called Girivalam. Indian spiritual history has it that even today a number of siddhars are living on the hill. During the fullmoon Maha Girivalam (Giri Valam) or Deepam festival day of Karthigai month.
 
  Sathanur Dam

Sathanur Dam is one of the Major Dam Constructed across Pennaiyar River . The dam can be reached by road 30 km from Thiruvannamalai Town . This Dam was constructed during the year 1958. Sathanur Dam is the oldest hero in Cinema Industry. Beautiful parks were maintained here with lawns and parks. A mini zoo is maintained inside the park area to enjoy the Children. One swimming pool is maintained inside the dam to enjoy the tourist during the visit to dam. A large Crocodile farm and a fish grotta is maintained here to know the life of Crocodile and fish culture.

 
  Sri Ramana Maharishi ashram

As you enter the Ramana Maharishi Ashram, you will be greeted by a calm and serene environment. A large open courtyard, bordered by shady trees and beautifully manicured gardens, give this ashram the tranquility that all of us aspire for. You will immediately feel a soothing stillness and harmony inside you.

 
  Saeshadri Swamigal ashram
Saeshadri Swamigal ashram is next to Sri Ramanashramam. Regular Pujas are performed at the Samadhi of Sri Seshadri Swamigal. There are a few platforms for meditation in the open, in a beautiful garden, under the cool shade of trees. One can do meditation facing the holy hill Arunachala, from this garden. Is the essence of His teaching. If we meditate on this we are sure to attain endless bliss. He has no caste distinction and has devotees, who follow other religions. He is continuously helping us and giving us his grace. The practice of Sesha mantra, Sesha meditation and understanding the Sesha path is spreading among numerous devotees. A book stall sells Mahan's photographs and books.
 
  Yogi ram surathkumar ashram
The person that came to be called Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar was born on December 1, 1918 , along the banks of the Ganges in a village adjacent to Kashi, near Varanasi (Benares), India . Very early in his childhood he showed signs of a spiritual thirst, being equally drawn to the Saints and Sadhus that lived along the banks of the Ganges . On February 20, 2001 at 3:19AM in the Ashram at Thiruvannamalai, Bhagwan Sri Yogi Ramsuratkumar attained Siddhi(Mukthi) with Mahasamadhi being celeberated the next day, February 21st, at 3P.M.
